Football: Chester toppled in live TV game; Chester City ......... 1 Nuneaton B......... 2.(Sport) - Daily Post (Liverpool, England)

Byline: NEIL TURNER

CHESTER'S highest crowd of the season saw City's unbeaten Con-ference record fall to 10-man Nuneaton. Mark Quayle's volley 12 minutes from time, when he outpaced a static Chester defence, proved the decisive strike. The match was played under the club's new-strength floodlights and with satellite TV cameras also providing the spotlight City will be dis-appointed they couldn't make their numerical advantage tell. Chester were caught cold after just 62 seconds as Squires' cross left central defender Angus with a simple finish past the returning Wayne Brown from six yards. Nuneaton's Angus had an event-ful first half, as 27 minutes later he was sent off for two bookable offences, each time penalised for a foul on Dave Cameron.

City had four changes to the side that won at Margate and struggled to get their passing game going. Kevin McIntyre's curling free kick and Ryan Sugden's angled drive came closest to a first-half equalis-er. However Sugden it was who brought Chester level three minutes after the break with a close-range header from McIntyre's inswinging corner. Chester had all the second half pressure but the 10 men of Nunea-ton held firm and also had their share of good fortune.

But on 78 minutes they were punished for some slack defending as a long ball forward saw Quayle produce Nuneaton's killer goal. CHESTER CITY: W Brown, McIntyre, Bolland, Ruffer, Hatswell, Blackburn, Kelly, Carden (Twiss 80), Sugden (M Brown 80), Cameron, Brady (Davies 80). Subs: Lancaster, McCaldon.
